Hi, I've always considered myself reasonably good at transcription but I've wasted days (and I mean DAYS !) trying to figure out the middle eight from Boz Scaggs' "Miss Riddle" off his recent album "Dig". I've searched in vain for the sheet music too, I'm willing to buy it now just to get the right chords ! The main song is simple, just two chords - AbMaj7 & Gm7. My attempt at the middle 8 is DbMaj7, BbMaj9/F#, Bb7sus4, F7, Abadd9, Eb7+5 But.... it's not quite right... the second chord in particular - my "BbMaj9/F#" is proving a bugger to get right. I'm in a jazz trio and would like to perform this live but not without the middle section, as otherwise it's just too monotonous. I'll gladly email an mp3 of the middle section to anyone who wants a try !! Can someone please help put me out of my misery !!!! Many Many thanks in advance, Cheers, Kev.>> Very cool passage... who's playing the trumpet solo? I like Boz mostly for nostalgic reasons, and I always need more ear practice, so I checked this out, using my guitar. Disclaimer: my strengths are rhythm and single note lines... harmony is what I need more work on. "Middle 8" suggest a 24 bar form, or a bridge of 32 bars. I'd just call this a "9-bar solo section" within a two-bar-vamp song. I hear more a Fm9 to Cm9 vamp. tpt solo: Fm9 | Cm9 | Db69#11 | D7#9 | Bb7sus | F7/A | Abmaj9 | Dbmaj13 (Db69#11add13) | ||
